Everyone experiences growth in their life. Whether it is during your career or developing yourself during a relationship, growth is a life-long ongoing process. Growing means investing time and effort into reaching your goals. This time is needed to develop your skills, capabilities and potential to reach your set goals. By overcoming and mastering different elements in the process, you are able to keep on expanding yourself and flourish. Eventually, all the steps you took fall into place to contribute your final goal, even though it did not always seem like it would.
With this interactive light artwork, we visualize the journey of growth. When starting your journey, there is no clear coherent path that you can follow, which is represented by disordered and unconnected pieces of the artwork. When walking closer towards the artwork, visitors are able to identify several pieces that increase in height and number of cubes. The expanding size of the artwork represents how several smaller elements all contribute to your growth. Visitors are able to activate the different pieces by interacting with the artwork. When they have mastered all the separate pieces, visitors are invited to look back at their growth process. The unconnected pieces now form a recognizable shape, in which the separate elements visually contribute to the achieved goal. By using the principles of anamorphosis, we symbolize our own growth as a team. In 2018 we showcased our first artwork on GLOW Eindhoven, called Loop. When looking back at Growth, and thus the growing process, the outline of Loop can be spotted.
